Welcome...:)

So after much procrastination and hesitation and reflection, not to mention persuasion by my soul sister Marcia, I've done it! I am officially blogging! (this was written in 2011)

Welcome and Thank You for joining me on this journey of life and allowing me to share my innermost thoughts, feelings and reflections on life.

I do aspire to walk the path of a Sufi and although I identify myself as a Muslim, I consider myself a spiritual person who could have just as easily been a Buddhist, a Christian, a Jew or a Hindu. To me they are all the same. They are all different paths leading to the same place! The universal principals of love and karma are the unifying threads of our existence.

But who is a sufi and what is sufism? My understanding of sufism is the relationship between the Divine and us humans based on love. A sufi is in love with the spirit aka God, Allah, the Beloved, and yearns to be one with HIM. Love is truly all there is. The relationship between God and a sufi is one of unconditional love.

Please know that although I sign each post with "From one sufi to another"...I, in no way consider myself even close to being one. But keeping the "fake it till you make it" principal in mind, I extend that hope for you and me; that someday, Inshallah (God Willing) in this lifetime, we might shed our worldly attachments and indeed walk the sufi's path. Ameen!!!

My prayer and hope is that my blog helps you think and be a better version of yourself.

Love and Light to you all!

Anita

Who am I? Simple enough question but certainly never a simple answer. We all play multiple roles at any given phase of our lives and our roles changes as our lives evolve. So in this phase of my life I am these things and more: a woman, a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend, a blogger, a religious education center teacher, a Secondary Teacher Educator, a social worker, a therapist, a dreamer, an art journaler...and the roles continue to evolve. Thus is the beauty of life.
